Deadline has unveiled new additions to the cast of NCIS: Origins, the upcoming prequel series. Diany Rodriguez, known for her roles in The Blacklist and Twisted Metal, will portray a younger version of Vera Strickland, the former partner of Mike Franks, originally played by Muse Watson. Described as a tough and sharp-witted Brooklynite, Vera is ready to take on any challenge thrown her way.

Joining the ensemble is Tyla Abercrumbie, recognized for her work in The Chi and The Chicago Code, as Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo, an original character crafted for the series. Mary Jo is depicted as a pivotal figure at Camp Pendleton, dubbed “HSIC” or Head Secretary in Charge, with a knack for uncovering secrets.

Previously announced cast members include Austin Stowell as a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, with Mark Harmon reprising the role as narrator, and Kyle Schmid as the young Mike Franks. Additionally, Mariel Molino will portray Special Agent Lala Dominguez.

Executive produced by both Mark Harmon and his son Sean Harmon, who previously portrayed a young Gibbs in flashback scenes, NCIS: Origins is helmed by co-showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal.

The expansion of the NCIS universe continues with plans for more spinoffs. Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are set to return as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David in a new series, reportedly set in Europe, slated for release on Paramount+.
