‘NCIS: Origins’ Will Be ‘Edgier and Grittier’ Than Other ‘NCIS’ Shows!
CBS is gearing up for a new addition to the NCIS franchise with “NCIS: Origins,” exploring the early years of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Set in the 1990s, the show promises a different vibe, described as “edgier and grittier” by CBS entertainment president Amy Reisenbach. Unlike its predecessors, “NCIS: Origins” will have a serialized element, offering a unique storytelling experience while staying true to the DNA of the franchise.
Expected to debut in the 2024-25 broadcast season, “NCIS: Origins” follows Gibbs as a new special agent at the NCIS Camp Pendleton office, working under the leadership of NCIS legend Mike Franks. Mark Harmon will return to narrate the show, with Sean Harmon, his son, serving as an executive producer. The series aims to delve into Gibbs’ complex backstory, introducing both familiar and new characters while exploring a different era in the NCIS universe.
