In an interview with TV Insider, Selleck emphasized the enduring popularity of the show and hinted at the potential for continued interest, suggesting that they are “certainly not out of ideas.” Despite CBS announcing the split of the final season into two parts, with the first premiering in February 2024 and the second slated for fall, Selleck conveyed his commitment to the role, stating, “I’m not counting the days so I can do something else,” underscoring his dedication to the work and his desire to continue as long as possible.

Following CBS’s announcement, Selleck expressed gratitude for his time on the show, acknowledging the significance of its portrayal of New York City’s law enforcement and family dynamics.
