Mark Harmon’s SHOCKING NCIS Comeback? Only if THIS Condition is Met!Get the scoop on the one demand that could bring back the legend!
Mark Harmon has expressed his openness to reprising his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in future NCIS seasons, with one condition. Although he left the show in 2021 after completing 19 seasons, the door remains open for a potential return, considering Gibbs simply walked away from his position.
In a recent interview with ET Online, Harmon indicated his interest in returning but clarified that he is unaware of any plans to bring Gibbs back. He humorously speculated, “He’s probably fishing in a stream up in Alaska. Is he going to make it out of the river? I’m not sure. But if he is, I’m not aware of it.”
As NCIS, a spin-off series that has outlasted its predecessor JAG (1995), progresses into its 21st season, there has been anticipation for Gibbs’ return. Brian Dietzen hinted at possible cameos from fan-favorite characters like Gibbs and Tony DiNozzo as Season 20 concluded. However, the season focused on the current crew, and neither character made a comeback.
Following the passing of original cast member David McCallum, who portrayed Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard, there’s a heightened significance to Gibbs’ potential return in Season 21. Ducky’s longstanding connection with Gibbs adds emotional weight to the idea of Gibbs paying respects to his old friend in a tribute episode. Even if briefly, Gibbs’ presence would be crucial for honoring Ducky’s legacy and taking a break from fishing in his memory.
