NCIS LA’s Eric Christian Olsen delivers disappointing update on Marty Deeks’ future with the CBS franchise!!!!!!!
NCIS: Los Angeles fans are eager to see Eric Christian Olsen reprise his role as Marty Deeks in the NCIS franchise, but the actor isn’t so sure it will happen.
Olsen, who portrayed the beloved NCIS investigator from Season 1, became a fan favorite. Unfortunately, his time on the show ended when the spin-off was canceled last year after 14 seasons.
While his co-star LL Cool J recently made a guest appearance in NCIS: Hawaii (which has also been canceled), Olsen doesn’t foresee Deeks making a comeback anytime soon. In a recent interview with TVLine, he shared that although he misses his co-stars, he doesn’t see a clear opportunity for Marty’s return.
“I actively miss Todd [LL Cool J], and I was texting with Renee [Felice Smith] this morning. I see [sister-in-law] Daniela [Ruah] all the time,” Olsen shared. Despite their ongoing connections, he admitted he’s not eager to step back into Deeks’ shoes anytime soon.
With NCIS continuing into its 22nd season, the focus has shifted to a new prequel series centered around a young Leroy Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell), leaving little room for guest appearances from spin-off favorites. Olsen echoed this sentiment, revealing that he doesn’t feel a strong desire to reprise his role as Deeks, saying, “not so much.”
Even though he has stepped away from NCIS, Olsen is still active in television, serving as an executive producer on the Matlock reboot starring Kathy Bates. There’s even potential for Olsen to make an on-screen appearance in the legal drama, marking his first acting gig since leaving NCIS.
Outside of his career, Olsen enjoys family life with his wife Sarah Wright and their three children.
NCIS: Los Angeles aired on CBS.
