NCIS: Origins: Mark Harmon to Make On-Screen Appearance in Premiere Episode!!!!

NCIS: Origins viewers will be thrilled to see and hear Mark Harmon when the CBS spinoff premieres. During a panel discussion with reporters, NCIS: Origins co-showrunner David J. North confirmed that Harmon, who famously portrayed Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS, will make a brief on-screen appearance in the pilot episode.

“That was a discussion between Mark, myself, and [co-showrunner] Gina Monreal,” North shared about the cameo, for which new footage of Harmon has been shot. “I hope the audience will be excited to see him after so many years.” (Harmon exited NCIS a few episodes into Season 19; its 22nd season premieres in October.)

While North didn’t provide details on the context of Harmon’s appearance, he left the door open for future cameos in the prequel centered on Young Gibbs. “We are focusing on him telling the story of 1991,” North explained. “As far as Mark appearing again, we are open to anything.”

As previously reported, Harmon will serve as the narrator and executive producer of NCIS: Origins, which follows a young Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) as he begins his career as a Special Agent at the NIS Camp Pendleton office. The series will also feature Kyle Schmid as a young Mike Franks (originally portrayed by Muse Watson), Mariel Molino as Special Agent Lala Dominguez, Tyler Abercrumbie as Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo Hayes, Diany Rodriguez as Special Agent Vera Strickland, and Caleb Foote as Special Agent Benjamin “Randy” Randolf.

NCIS: Origins kicks off with a two-episode premiere on Monday, Oct. 14, at 9/8c, before settling into its regular time slot on Monday, Oct. 21, at 10 pm.
