Mark Harmon’s NCIS Return: The One Condition for a Big Comeback – Shocking Revelation!
Mark Harmon said goodbye to his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS in Season 19, Episode 4, titled “Great Wide Open.” This departure has created a void for NCIS fans longing for his return. While the likelihood of Harmon’s comeback remains uncertain, there’s a condition that might entice him to reprise the role.
Executive producer Steven D. Binder hinted that Harmon could return if presented with a compelling storyline. Binder explained, “There’s always head space for him to come back. I think it just has to be the right story to get him excited about it and us excited about it.” However, Binder emphasized the importance of approaching this decision thoughtfully, indicating that Gibbs’ return, when it happens, must be handled with care.
The unique filming schedule of NCIS, operating on a different timeline than other shows, might provide an opportunity for Harmon’s return. Despite the potential, fans may need to be patient, as the show follows a longer timeframe for such decisions. Binder expressed a willingness to wait for the right moment, stating, “We work on a much longer time frame for these things than other shows, for better or worse.”
As of now, Binder hasn’t been in a rush to craft new stories for Gibbs in 2022. He reflected on leaving Gibbs in a positive and serene place, describing, “I feel like we left Gibbs in this magical place … I spotted him on a river, smiling with a knife in his pocket and fish in the boat, which I never see him do. That’s how I picture him, and that’s how I intend to keep picturing him.”
