Mark Harmon Plans to Take NCIS in a Bold New Direction—Fans Are Stunned!

Mark Harmon, famously known as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS, is deepening his bond with the franchise in an exciting new way. Although his on-screen journey has concluded, Harmon will return as the narrator for NCIS: Origins, a prequel series delving into the early exploits of Gibbs and Mike Franks. This fresh role allows Harmon to remain an integral part of the show’s enduring legacy.

Beyond television, Harmon has expanded into writing, teaming up with longtime NCIS technical advisor Leon Carroll Jr. Their first book, Ghosts of Honolulu: A Japanese Spy, a Japanese Spy Hunter, and the Untold Story of Pearl Harbor, spotlights Douglas Wada, the first Japanese American NIS agent. Released in late 2023, the book reflects Harmon’s dedication to bringing real-life NCIS-inspired stories to light.

The duo continues this journey with their second book, Ghosts of Panama: A Strongman Out of Control, a Murdered Marine, and the Special Agents Caught in the Middle of an Invasion. Once hesitant about writing, Harmon embraced the opportunity to honor NCIS’s rich history, transforming the project into a heartfelt tribute to the agency’s legacy.
