Disney Legend Passes Away At 95!!!!!!

Richard M. Sherman, the renowned composer behind timeless songs for films like Mary Poppins, passed away at the age of 95 on Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gluck, and his children, Gregory, Victoria, and Lynda.

A funeral service is scheduled for May 31 at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City, California.

Together with his brother, Robert B. Sherman, Richard earned numerous accolades throughout his illustrious career, including two Oscars and three Grammy Awards. Disney CEO Bob Iger reflected on his legacy, saying, “Richard Sherman was the embodiment of what it means to be a Disney Legend.”

Pixar’s Pete Docter praised Sherman for his “infectious joy for life,” while film historian Leonard Maltin noted the brothers’ enduring optimism, adding, “Their music had an upbeat outlook that spilled over into Richard’s life.”

Sherman’s extraordinary career featured musical scores for films such as Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. In recognition of their contributions to music and film, the Sherman brothers were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 and honored as Disney Legends in 1990.
