Actors Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly are set to reprise their roles as beloved NCIS characters Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo.
In an exciting update for longtime NCIS fans, Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly are returning as the iconic will-they-or-won’t-they duo, Ziva and Tony. The official announcement was made by Paramount+ on July 15, revealing the full cast who will join them on-screen.
Earlier, on May 7, Paramount+ shared that the new series will be aptly titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva. “It makes it really easy because the fans will know exactly what the show is,” de Pablo joked in a video when the news broke.
The show, produced by CBS Studios, has already begun filming in Budapest, Hungary, according to the July 15 release. Fans can now look forward to seeing their favorite couple back in action!
Paramount+ announced on Feb. 28 that the company has ordered 10 episodes of a spinoff series starring the two characters. Ziva and Tony — frequently referred to by their portmanteau couple name “Tiva” by fans — will pick up their story where things left off in the longtime original series.
The two did end up together, with a daughter named Tali, and moved to Paris. In the new series, according to the release, that’s where the spinoff show will begin.

What is ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ about?
“When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after,” according to a previous release.
The show will mark the sixth series in the “NCIS” universe; in addition to the original show, there are “NCIS” series set in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawai’i, and Sydney (though NCIS: Hawai’i was recently canceled.)
In the Feb. 28 Paramount+ statement, Weatherly and de Pablo said they’ve been “talking about this story for many years.”
“The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter,” the two said in the statement. “We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the ‘TIVA’ movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you!”
In a 2005 NCIS promo, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo were featured together. In a video shared on May 7, de Pablo teased fans with what to expect from the new series, hinting at plenty of excitement.
“I expect intrigue, romance, the backdrop of Europe, impossible situations that will make our lives very complicated, but also a little something about love,” she said.
Did Tony and Ziva end up together on NCIS?
In the original series, which premiered in 2003, Tony and Ziva finally came together in Season 10. They shared a romantic night, but Ziva chose to stay in Israel while Tony returned to the U.S. Two years later, in the Season 13 finale, Tony learned that Ziva had supposedly died in an explosion at her Tel Aviv home, leaving behind their daughter, Tali. Tony then left NCIS to raise their child.
However, it was later revealed that Ziva faked her death and went into hiding to protect herself and Tali. By Season 17, after the danger had passed, Ziva and Tony were believed to have reunited off-screen in Paris to raise their daughter together.
According to the July 15 release by Paramount+, NCIS: Tony & Ziva picks up after Ziva’s supposed death and Tony’s departure from NCIS to raise Tali. The two are now raising their daughter together.
When will the spinoff premiere?
As of now, no premiere date has been announced. In the video shared on May 7, Weatherly mentioned that filming would take place over the summer. The July 15 press release confirmed that production had begun in Budapest.
