The Ncis team will look very different in Season 22!!!

When NCIS Season 22 kicks off, both the office and field will look quite different. Showrunner Steve Binder shared with Entertainment Weekly that a small time jump and a “chain reaction” of events will bring significant changes. Jessica Knight is no longer part of the team, having taken the role of REACT chief in California. She’s been on the West Coast for six months, while the rest of the team has also made some big moves. McGee is aiming for a deputy director position, and Torres has returned to undercover work. This leaves Parker noticeably alone, as Binder teased, “The team kind of separates, so picture Parker walking into the bullpen, and the kids aren’t home.”

Fans will still see Jessica through Parker’s storyline, though. A case takes Parker out west, where he reconnects with Jessica. This will offer insight into how she’s feeling, especially about leaving her boyfriend, Jimmy, behind. While Season 21 made it seem like they were over, Jessica hasn’t moved on. She’s questioning whether she made a mistake by taking the job and leaving Jimmy. When she opens up to Parker about it, it happens “under the worst circumstances possible,” according to Binder. Whether Jessica returns to MCRT or stays with REACT is unclear, but she will remain part of the story this season.

More Cases, Romance, and Mystery in NCIS Season 22

The new season promises more thrilling cases and romantic storylines. Binder hinted at some “fun and unusual” character pairings that will be entertaining. A mystery from Season 21 will also be revisited, focusing on Parker’s past and uncovering who Lily is. This offers a chance to explore Parker’s history and reveal what happened with Lily. Binder hinted at a complex mystery, saying even Parker might not fully understand who she is. “We don’t always remember the scars of our youth,” he said, hinting at a major revelation for the NCIS boss.

Returning cast members for Season 22 include Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Gary Cole as Alden Parker, Katrina Law as Jessica Knight, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Brian Dietzen as Jimmy Palmer, Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines, and Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance. This fall, NCIS will also debut a prequel series, NCIS: Origins, which will focus on Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) during his early days with NIS, before he became the legendary leader of the team.
