CBS has officially announced the release date for “NCIS: Origins,” a new prequel series expanding the NCIS universe. This highly anticipated show is set to debut this fall.
However, this latest addition to the NCIS lineup will replace “NCIS: Hawai’i” in its time slot. In a surprising move, the network decided to end “NCIS: Hawai’i” midway through its third season to make room for “NCIS: Origins,” which will air immediately following new episodes of the original “NCIS.”
Fans are eagerly anticipating the early ratings, especially with Mark Harmon playing a pivotal role in the production. Best known for his portrayal of Leroy Jethro Gibbs on “NCIS,” Harmon exited the series when his character retired to Alaska. However, his involvement in “NCIS: Origins” as both executive producer and narrator has sparked renewed excitement.
While viewers still hope Gibbs will return to “NCIS” before the series concludes, they can look forward to seeing Harmon in this new prequel drama.
When Does the First Episode of NCIS: Origins Air?
The premiere episode of “NCIS: Origins” will air on Monday, October 14, right after the season premiere of “NCIS.” The debut will feature a special two-hour episode introducing the new format, which focuses on the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks at NCIS. Starting on October 21, the show will settle into its regular time slot at 10/9c for the rest of Fall 2024. Episodes will be available on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
The series stars Austin Stowell as a young Gibbs, with a teaser video already generating buzz. The caption for the teaser reads, “Gear up, probie – we’re throwing it all the way back to the 90s. 👏 #NCISOrigins premieres Monday, October 14 on CBS.”
