Mark Harmon’s Jaw-Dropping Return to NCIS in Season 22? Here’s What We Know!
Fans of NCIS have been buzzing with speculation about the potential return of Mark Harmon, who exited the show in Season 19. According to NCIS executive producer Steven Binder, the idea of Harmon’s return frequently comes up during discussions among the writers. “It’s a question we always revisit,” Binder explained. “Every time the writers gather, we explore whether there’s a way to bring him back. Throughout the season, we assess if any of our storylines could naturally include his character.”
Binder emphasized the importance of ensuring that any potential return for Harmon is meaningful. “We don’t want it to seem like he’s just been lounging in an Airbnb in Anchorage,” Binder joked. “His return needs to be significant and relevant to the storyline, which is why we keep his whereabouts intentionally vague.”
In a recent interview with Parade, Harmon himself addressed the ongoing rumors about a comeback. “I’ve been asked a lot about returning,” Harmon shared during a Television Critics Association panel for NCIS: Origins, a project he will executive produce and narrate. “I trust the writers and respect their vision for the show. I was content with how my storyline wrapped up. It’s all about trust and collaboration with the team I’ve worked with for so many years.”
Although there’s no concrete plan for Harmon’s return at this point, it’s clear that both the show’s creators and Harmon himself remain open to the possibility, depending on how future storylines develop.
