NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg has called Cote de Pablo’s departure a “moment in television history.”
De Pablo, who has portrayed Ziva David for eight years, will make her final appearance in the two-part opener of season 11. Glasberg, in an open letter shared on the official NCIS Twitter account, praised the emotional depth of her final scenes, stating, “The amazing resolution you’re going to see is pretty damn heart-wrenching and we’re incredibly proud of it.”
He described de Pablo’s exit as “a shock” but recognized that “actors move on” and that “change happens.” Glasberg expressed his enthusiasm for the creative opportunities that arise from such transitions, emphasizing that the team is focused on moving forward with the series.
De Pablo has openly admitted that leaving NCIS was “not an easy decision,” highlighting the significant impact of her departure on both the cast and fans.
