Mark Harmon, known for his iconic role as NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, left fans eagerly anticipating his next move after departing the long-running naval crime show. Recently, it was announced that Harmon will return to acting in the sequel to “Freaky Friday,” titled “Freaky Friday 2,” scheduled for a 2025 premiere, according to Soaps. Harmon previously appeared in the original 2003 film as Ryan, the love interest of Jamie Lee Curtis’ character.
While Harmon’s role in “Freaky Friday” sequel remains unspecified, his return to acting follows his signing with The Gersh Agency, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter in February 2023. In addition to his acting commitments, Harmon will also executive produce and narrate “NCIS: Origins,” exploring the early years of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, alongside his son Sean Harmon.
Since departing NCIS, Harmon has remained active, recently co-authoring a historical book titled “Ghosts of Honolulu: A Japanese American Spy Hunter, and the Untold Story of Pearl Harbor.” The book sheds light on the untold stories of U.S. naval counterintelligence officer Douglas Wada and a Japanese spy in Hawaii during World War II.
Reflecting on his writing experience, Harmon expressed admiration for those whose stories are often overlooked, highlighting the quiet dedication of individuals like Wada in historical narratives.
