NCIS showrunner Steve D. Binder has spoken about Katrina Law’s future on the show, following speculation about her character Jessica Knight’s departure. In the season 21 finale, Jessica accepted a job at Camp Pendleton, sparking rumors about Law’s exit.

In an interview with TV Line, Binder addressed Katrina’s position and whether she would leave in Season 22. “We’ve set something up, and I will point you toward our track record where ‘you never know,’” he stated. “We want to please, and we believe the audience will be satisfied with where this goes. Sometimes the satisfaction is bittersweet, and sometimes it is pure bliss.”

In the finale, Jessica accepted the position of Chief REACT Training Officer, causing tension with her boyfriend, Dr. Jimmy Palmer, who was reluctant to pursue a long-distance relationship. This has fueled speculation that Law will leave the show. However, nothing is ever simple on NCIS.

Katrina Law revealed on Instagram that she will feature in Season 22, with her character’s fate decided in the next part. “I guess we have to wait for CBS FALL,” she wrote. “Until then, keep up with @ncisverse on @paramountplus. Thank you for a lovely season!”

Law also commented on Jessica’s decision, stating it was right for her character. “She wants a career, she’s very ambitious, and to her, a long-distance relationship isn’t the end of things,” she told TV Line. “Jimmy instinctively knows that Knight needs to do this, and then they can see where they are after.”

The 22nd season of NCIS is slated to premiere in September, though an official date has yet to be revealed. Fans will have to wait a few months to find out what happens next with Jessica Knight.
