NCIS: Origins has enlisted Longmire star Robert Taylor to portray Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ father in the upcoming prequel series.

The show will follow a young Gibbs as he embarks on his career as a newly minted special agent at NCIS Camp Pendleton, featuring younger versions of several familiar characters.

According to TVLine, Australian actor Robert Taylor will guest star as Jackson Gibbs, described as the tough and no-nonsense father of future NCIS team leader Jethro.

Joining Taylor are Daniel Bellomy from Power Book II: Ghost, who will play Special Agent Granville “Granny” Dawson. Dawson is introduced as a “probie” starting as an Evidence Custodian’s assistant, eager to climb the ranks to become a field agent.

Caleb Martin Foote, known from Made for Love, will take on the role of Special Agent Benjamin “Randy” Randolf. Randy is characterized as the agency’s affable “golden boy” tasked with mentoring the newly appointed Agent Gibbs, while balancing life as a father to young twins.

These additions join previously announced stars Austin Stowell, Mariel Molino, Kyle Schmid, and Diany Rodriguez, portraying Gibbs, Lala Dominguez, Mike Franks, and Vera Strickland, respectively.

NCIS: Origins is created by Mark Harmon, who played Gibbs in the original NCIS series, alongside his son Sean Harmon, both serving as executive producers. Mark Harmon will also return as the narrator for the prequel.

“We’re excited to bring this new chapter to life alongside Mark and Sean Harmon,” said co-showrunners Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North in a statement to TVLine. “This series delves into the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, revealing a side that even the most dedicated NCIS fans have yet to discover.”
