Sharif Atkins, known for his role as Captain Norman ‘Boom Boom’ Gates in “NCIS: Hawai’i,” has secured his first post-cancellation role in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Me.”

In this coming-of-age drama, Atkins will play Darren Kennedy, a character pivotal to the story of Ben, a middle-schooler grappling with newfound superpowers and adjusting to life in a blended family. The 10-episode season follows Ben’s journey of self-discovery, aided by his stepsister Max, as they unravel community mysteries and tragedies while navigating the complexities of superhuman abilities.

“Me,” created by Barry L Levy of “Vantage Point,” stars Lucian-River Chauhan as Ben, alongside actors such as Abigail Pniowsky, Dilshad Vadsaria, Amanda Reid, Jessy Yates, and Kyle Howard.

Following the cancellation of “NCIS: Hawai’i” after three seasons earlier this year, CBS Entertainment’s Amy Reisenbach discussed the decision-making process, emphasizing the network’s commitment to strategic planning and future opportunities despite the challenges of ending beloved shows.
