NCIS Star Sean Murray Celebrates Father’s Day with Two Teenagers!

NCIS star Sean Murray will be celebrating Father’s Day with his two kids: 14-year-old son River and 17-year-old daughter Cay Ryan.

Viewers of NCIS have already met Cay, who guest-starred as a computer-savvy teenager named Teagan Fields in “The Brat Pack” episode, which aired on May 2, 2022.

“I was so proud of how she handled it,” Murray told Parade in an exclusive interview. “I remember Michael Zinberg, one of our best directors, was directing that episode. We’d do a take, and he would come and give her direction. She’d do the next take, and it was completely different and right along the lines of what our director was looking for or maybe asking her questions so she would think about some things. But the fact that she could deliver things completely different already, to me, that puts her on a level that I see a lot of actors can’t even handle, being able to differentiate that stuff and take direction.”

Working in front of the TV cameras was a new experience for Cay. She’s been acting for years in theater as part of the Youth Academy of Dramatic Arts and attends Alexander Hamilton Senior High Music & Performing Arts Magnet in Los Angeles, but this was her TV series debut.

“It was a different experience for her, but I think she handled it really well,” the delighted father continues. “As I’m sure you can see in any of those promo pictures they’ve snapped of us, I was a very proud father. I’m grinning from ear to ear in all those photos. I’m really proud of Cait and what she did.”

Cay’s forte is actually musical theater. She’s been singing since she was very young.

“She’s amazing,” Sean says. “She really is. I know I’m biased and I’m her father, but I wish I was that good. I go and see her. They recently did Midsummer Night’s Dream and it was unbelievable. She was so good. She’s made to do this stuff.”

Sean is also proud of his son River, who has shown little interest in following in his father’s footsteps. Instead, River is more into athletics.

“He’s been going to the gym lately,” Sean says. “He’s a big kid, he’s 14, and he’s probably about 5 feet 10 inches, so he’s starting to really take care of himself and get into physical fitness and that sort of thing. He plays soccer a little bit.”

Another way River is taking care of himself is by learning to cook.

“He really has found that cooking is one of the things he loves to do,” Sean says. “He’s a good one. He loves anime, he loves drawing, he’s a bit of an artist, that’s his thing, too.”
