NCIS Insiders Spill: Mark Harmon and Pauley Perrette’s Possible Return! Click for the Inside Scoop!
With the announcement of a new Paramount+ spinoff focusing on fan-favorite characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, speculation has arisen regarding the potential return of other beloved faces to the NCIS universe. Mark Harmon’s departure from NCIS left fans wondering if Leroy Jethro Gibbs might someday make a comeback. CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach expressed openness to Harmon’s return, stating that the door is always open for him should he choose to reprise his role.
While Harmon serves as an executive producer and narrator for the upcoming prequel series NCIS: Origins, Reisenbach clarified that a Gibbs appearance in flash-forwards isn’t currently on the table but remains a possibility for the future. Similarly, the departure of Pauley Perrette’s character Abby Sciuto in 2018 has led to speculation about her potential return. Although there are no plans for Perrette to reprise her role or star in a spinoff, CBS Studios president David Stapf acknowledged that her return would be welcomed, should the opportunity arise.
In terms of a potential crossover, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, set to star in the Tony-and-Ziva-focused spinoff, have left open the possibility of returning to the original show. While Weatherly recently made a cameo appearance in season 21, future crossovers have not been ruled out. Stapf indicated that discussions regarding crossovers are ongoing, as the writers room has just begun work on the Tony and Ziva spinoff.
