The younger actor replaces Mark Harmon’s ‘NCIS’ Gibbs in ‘Origins.’ Who could it be?
Austin Stowell has been cast to portray a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the new CBS series “NCIS: Origins,” taking on the role from Mark Harmon, who played Gibbs for 18 years. “NCIS: Origins” will explore Gibbs’ early career starting in 1991, 12 years prior to the original series’ beginning. Harmon will narrate and serve as an executive producer for the series set to debut in the 2024-25 season. Stowell is known for roles in “The Hating Game,” “Dolphin Tale” films, and “Bridge of Spies.”
Additionally, a new “NCIS” spinoff featuring Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly as Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo, respectively, will start production later this year for Paramount+, aiming for a 2025 release.
