The NCIS: Los Angeles cast continues to contribute to the franchise, with LL Cool J reprising his role in NCIS: Hawai’i, and Daniela Ruah, known for portraying Kensi Blye, making a return to the NCIS universe, this time behind the camera.
After making her directorial debut in NCIS: LA Season 12 and directing six episodes, Ruah is slated to direct an episode of NCIS scheduled for March, followed by an episode of NCIS: Hawai’i in April. Expressing her joy, Ruah stated, “Kensi was born as a character on NCIS 15 years ago, so to be able to step back onto that set as a director, with that incredible cast and crew, is an absolute honor.”
She further mentioned the familiarity of the environment, saying, “There are so many familiar faces and people I adore, and they have greeted me with open arms. It’s like coming home.” In a November 2022 interview with Parade, discussing her directorial role in the “Flesh & Blood” episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, Ruah shared her directorial approach, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to intervene more intensively or step back and let others contribute their magic to a scene.
NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i are set to return to CBS with new episodes on February 12, marking the 21st season of NCIS and the third season of Hawai’i.
