Mark Harmon’s Sweet Bond with Lookalike Son Sean – Inside the Heartwarming Connection!
Mark Harmon is making a comeback as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, all thanks to his son, Sean. With the approval of NCIS: Origins, an upcoming prequel tracing the early days of Gibbs, Sean was the mastermind behind the concept.
Having approached CBS Studios in collaboration with his father, Sean and the iconic NCIS star, Mark, confirmed securing a slot for the 2024-25 broadcast season. Mark is set to reprise his renowned role and will also serve as the narrator for the series, set in 1991, adopting a similar successful formula as Young Sheldon. Meanwhile, Sean continues to strengthen his partnership with his famous father, taking on the role of an executive producer.
This dynamic father-son duo, having collaborated on various projects before, is evidently closer than ever after teaming up on NCIS: Origins. Mark, a devoted father of two, shares his sons, 35-year-old Sean and 32-year-old Ty, with his wife and fellow actor, Pam Dawber. The Harmon family maintains a low-key profile, steering clear of social media, as Mark emphasized in an interview.
Although Mark tends to keep his family life private, he openly expressed pride in Sean’s dedication to his work, particularly highlighting Sean’s 2008 NCIS debut as a young Gibbs in seven episodes. Sean’s most recent cameo in the 2020 episode ‘Everything Starts Somewhere’ further explores the early collaboration between Gibbs and David McCallum’s Donald “Ducky” Mallard.
In a 2023 interview, Mark spoke of his pride in both sons, emphasizing their wise choices and daily accomplishments. Sean, deeply influenced by his experience playing a young Gibbs, envisioned a compelling spin-off series. He expressed enthusiasm about stepping into a producing role alongside NCIS writers-producers Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North, as well as his father, to tell the untold story of this beloved character.
