CBS has given a direct-to-series order for Mark Harmon’s NCIS prequel, titled “NCIS: Origins,” which will delve into the early life of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. The upcoming series will also explore the origin story of fan-favorite character Vera Strickland, portrayed by Roma Maffia.
Introduced in the 11th season of the original NCIS series, Strickland was once the partner of the late Mike Franks, who will be featured in a younger version in “NCIS: Origins.” Set in 1991, the spinoff follows Gibbs as a newly appointed special agent at NCIS Camp Pendleton. Mark Harmon, serving as the narrator and executive producer, is joined by his son Sean. The series is anticipated to air during the 2024/25 US TV season.
