Mark Harmon’s NCIS Comeback: The One Condition for His Return – Shocking Revelation!
Mark Harmon bid adieu to his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS in Season 19, Episode 4, titled “Great Wide Open.” Harmon’s departure has left a void for NCIS fans eager to see him back on the show. While the possibility of Harmon’s return remains uncertain, there might be a condition that could entice him to make a comeback.
Executive producer Steven D. Binder hinted that Harmon could return if presented with a compelling storyline. Binder explained, “There’s always head space for him to come back. I think it just has to be the right story to get him excited about it and us excited about it.” However, Binder stressed the importance of approaching this decision thoughtfully, indicating that when the time comes to bring Gibbs back, it must be done with care.
The unique filming schedule of NCIS, which operates on a different timeline than other shows, could potentially pave the way for Harmon’s return. Despite the possibility, fans might need to exercise patience, as the show follows a longer time frame for such decisions. Binder expressed a willingness to wait for the right moment, stating, “We work on a much longer time frame for these things than other shows, for better or worse.”
As of now, Binder hasn’t been in a rush to craft new stories for Gibbs in 2022. He reflected on leaving Gibbs in a positive and serene place, describing, “I feel like we left Gibbs in this magical place… I spotted him on a river, smiling with a knife in his pocket and fish in the boat, which I never see him do. That’s how I picture him, and that’s how I intend to keep picturing him.”
