Mark Harmon Breaks Silence on NCIS Return Rumors – Fans, Brace Yourselves for the Truth!
Mark Harmon, the former star of NCIS, has addressed the ongoing rumors about his potential return to the long-running show. Having departed from his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in 2021 after an 18-year association with the series, Harmon dispelled the speculations, stating, “He’s [Leroy] probably sitting in a stream up in Alaska fishing. Is he going to get out of the stream? I don’t know. But if he is, I don’t know about it.”
Harmon previously explained his departure, emphasizing the desire to keep the character fresh and challenging. While rumors persist, showrunner Steve Binder hinted at the possibility of Harmon’s return, noting that, as an executive producer and friend, Harmon remains an integral part of the show’s fabric. Binder reassured fans, stating, “Our north star has always been staying true to our characters, and that truth has always guided the stories we tell and where those characters go. So regarding the future of Gibbs, as longtime fans of the show may have noticed over the years… never count Leroy Jethro Gibbs out.”
While Harmon’s future on NCIS remains uncertain, the series has recently premiered a new spin-off, NCIS: Sydney, taking the action Down Under.
