Mark Harmon’s NCIS Return: One Condition for the Big Comeback – Shocking Revelation!
Mark Harmon bid farewell to his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS in Season 19, Episode 4, titled “Great Wide Open.” The departure of Harmon’s character has left a void for NCIS fans who are eager to see him return to the show. While the prospect of Harmon’s return seems uncertain, there might be a condition that could persuade him to come back.
Executive producer Steven D. Binder hinted that Harmon could return if presented with an intriguing and captivating storyline. Binder explained, “There’s always head space for him to come back. I think it just has to be the right story to get him excited about it and us excited about it.” However, Binder emphasized the importance of not taking this decision lightly, indicating that when the time comes to bring Gibbs back, it must be done thoughtfully.
The unique filming schedule of NCIS, which operates on a different timeline than other shows, could potentially provide an opportunity for Harmon’s return. Despite the possibility, fans might have to exercise patience, as the show follows a longer time frame for such decisions. Binder expressed a willingness to wait for the right moment, stating, “We work on a much longer time frame for these things than other shows, for better or worse.”
As of now, Binder hasn’t been in a rush to craft new stories for Gibbs in 2022. He reflected on leaving Gibbs in a positive and serene place, describing, “I feel like we left Gibbs in this magical place … I spotted him on a river, smiling with a knife in his pocket and fish in the boat, which I never see him do. That’s how I picture him, and that’s how I intend to keep picturing him.”
