“NCIS” continues to captivate audiences, sparking curiosity about potential returns of beloved characters. While fans hope for Mark Harmon’s reappearance as Agent Gibbs, there are other notable names that could make a return in the future. Surprisingly, one character’s return often leaves viewers bewildered.

Could Joe Spano stage a comeback? Never say never. In fact, he already made a return in Season 19, and given the current storylines, it’s unwise to rule out another appearance in the future.

Mark Harmon’s portrayal of Agent Gibbs left an indelible mark on “NCIS.” His departure still casts a substantial shadow over the show, but with Gary Cole now part of the cast, the CBS drama is in capable hands.

Harmon is well aware that success often takes time, and he has discussed his career journey in detail. In a Men’s Journal interview, he candidly shared, “I’d be a carpenter. I tried to do so, but I couldn’t find a job.” It wasn’t a quick ascent for him. “I enjoyed getting up in the morning and going to work. For me, it was about materials and doing the right thing,” he explained. “If you did it well, [the project] would outlast you. I still love [carpentry], and I think that’s what I would have tried to do if I hadn’t pursued [acting].”

Before dedicating himself to acting, Harmon took various job roles. He recalled, “I took a job at an ad agency and worked there for about four years. I was promoted to another ad-based job, a national sales rep position at a shoe company, and spent around seven months as a shoe salesman.”

His career path wasn’t straightforward. Uncertain whether to commit to acting full-time, he harbored another passion for carpentry. However, it didn’t resonate with him in the same way as acting.

Reflecting on a pivotal moment in his life, Harmon said, “When I had that shoe salesman job, I was flying back from Boston and sat next to a 33-year-old guy talking about trying to make it to retirement at 65. By the time we were rolling, he was on his second martini. He was unhappy at work and was trying to stick with it for another [32] years. I went home, drove to my workplace, and handed in my resignation.”

This experience provided him with a profound realization about the importance of pursuing one’s passions. He recognized the consequences of not doing what one loves and made a life-altering decision.
