“David McCallum’s Most Heartfelt Confessions About Wife Katherine Carpenter – Prepare to Be Moved by Their Incredible Love Story!”
David McCallum, renowned for his role on NCIS, passed away in September at the age of 90, just over a week after celebrating his 56th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Katherine Carpenter.
Katherine, a former actress and model turned interior designer, first crossed paths with David during a photoshoot for his show, “Man from U.N.C.L.E.” Several months later, they tied the knot in New York. Read on for details on their enduring romance and a glimpse into their marriage before David’s unfortunate passing.
David and Katherine exchanged vows on September 16, 1967, in New York. Following their union, they welcomed two children, a son named Peter and a daughter named Sophie. Katherine also became a stepmother to David’s sons from his first marriage to Hollywood actress Jill Ireland.
While David typically kept his personal life private, he occasionally spoke about his marriage during interviews. In a conversation with Closer Weekly in 2017, the TV star described himself and Katherine as “two halves of a whole.”
He elaborated, saying, “We work well together, and when problems arise, we solve them. The best thing about a marriage is that you discover what the other person desires and make sure they get it.”
In November 2022, David shared insights into his early career and acknowledged Katherine’s role in sustaining their family during an interview with Radio Times.
“I was very happy to work and earn a living, pay school fees and insurance, you know. This is the life of an actor, particularly in the early years before you become better known: your primary concern is to earn enough money to support the family,” he said.
“Fortunately, I married a young lady who was more talented than I was [Katherine], so we shared the responsibilities together, and we’ve had a very successful relationship. In fact, we’ve been married for 55 years.”
David sadly passed away earlier this month, with his son Peter announcing his passing on Monday, September 25. He revealed that his father had died of natural causes at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
